Joachim Jacobs is a landscape architect, who has specialised in conservation and restoration projects including designing an extension to the Jewish cemetery in Grunewald. He has published widely about Jewish cemeteries. Houses of Life is a visually rich introduction to Jewish burial culture, and profiles Jewish cemeteries at key points of time over the last 2000 years, including maps, plans, paintings, drawings and contemporary photographs of sites across Europe.
