V. Şafak Uysal is a spatial researcher trained in city & regional planning and interior architecture. His academic work focuses on architectural and interior theory, critical thinking, spatial narratives and archetypes, and the role of architectural formations in shaping experience. He has held academic and administrative positions at various universities including Bilkent, Yeditepe, Beykent, and Istanbul Bilgi, and has taught design studios as well as theoretical courses at undergraduate and graduate levels on visuality, temporality, corporeality, and interiority. More recently, his work has focused particularly on interiors that transcend the rural-urban dichotomy such as necrogeographies, sacred spaces, and waterscapes. He currently conducts spatial and archive-based interdisciplinary research projects that approach Istanbul’s multi-layered urban history and cultural heritage from a contemporary perspective. He is currently a faculty member at TED University.
