PhD candidate in Heritage, Technology and Territory. Conducts research on cemetery heritage, memory, funerary art, and the valorization of historical cemeteries, exploring the potential of digital technologies in their preservation and dissemination. Rafael’s projects include the 2024 ‘ Virtualização de cemitérios: uma nova abordagem’, or the ‘ Virtualization of Cemeteries: A New Approach’, which presented a technical and methodological proposal for the virtualization of Lisbon’s cemeteries, while also inviting reflection on the role of these spaces in contemporary society. Rafael has also used Blender (Free and Open Source 3D Creation Software) to create a 3D map of the British Cemetery in Lisbon.
