Virtual Colloquium

This year’s Virtual Colloquium will be taking place on the 15th November 2024. This event is open to academics from around the globe, and multiple disciplines, discussing burial, cremation, alkaline hydrolysis and other new technologies for disposing the dead. Please submit your abstract using the google form here. The deadline for submissions is the 15th September. 

We are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker this year will be Professor Andrew Kipnis, Department of Anthropology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Kipnis has written widely on contemporary funeral practices in China, including the 2021 monograph The Funeral of Mr. Wang: Life, Death and Ghosts in Urbanizing China.
